Michel Bisson is a proud member of the CSC “Canadian Society of Cinematographers”, C.I.C.A. “Canadian Independent Camera Association” and I.A.T.S.E #667.
Michel is a second-generation D.O.P. cameraman. His late father Jean Bisson started him off shooting at the young age of sixteen. Michel has been in the business ever since the age of nineteen, Michel landed a contract with CBC Sports in Montreal. This was the stepping-stone for his future success.
Being bilingual in French and English, Michel was able to move to Toronto and land a contract with CBC French. After being in Toronto for a few years, Michel decided to go totally freelance. This enabled him to travel the world shooting everything from Beluga whales to rock climbing in the Alps.
Michel has been shooting for over twenty years, and has worked with just about every major network in North America. From TV Series to Commercials, Movies, Documentary, Corporate and Sporting events, Michel has done it all. He has a history of always trying to give the best quality possible to his clients. Starting off in Film 16mm with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation then on to video, owning several cameras from Film cameras to Be
tacams then into to HD with Sony 700A, Sony Cine Alta HD F900, and lately his cameras are the Panasonic AJ-HPX 3700 P2 HD Varicam also the Panasonic AJ-HDX 900 DVCPro HD cameras, Michel is always in tune with the latest technologies.
Michel Bisson csc believes in owning his equipment, which guarantees a great final product. A believer in knowing what state your equipment is in, and every nuance associated with each piece of equipment, he owns every thing from Cameras, Jib’s to Dolly and Studio Lighting plus Grip equipment.
His clients have the confidence that he cannot only shoot, but he can operate every piece of equipment he owns. He believes that if you rely on rental equipment you can't know what state it's in. Owning eliminates the fear of rental breakdown.
The long and short of it is that he just wants the shoot to go as smoothly as possible so that way he has a happy client and gets hired again. His Father told him when he started out that you are only as good as your last JOB. Michel has been living by that rule ever since.
So call him for your next project.
